Estimation of Genetic Parameters and Inbreeding effects of Economic Traits in native chicken under Short Term Selection

چکیده
Iranian native hens are a valuable genetic resource, due to their adaptability to harsh conditions of husbandry and environment in rural area. The genetic parameters for various traits of economic importance were studied in an Iranian Native chicken population under short term selection for egg production and body weight for over 2 years. The parameters studied were body weight at day old (BW1), 8 weeks (BW8) and 12 weeks (BW12), the weight of first egg (EGGW1) and egg weight at 30 weeks of age (EGGW30), the average number of stock eggs per day (EGG/DAY). They showed mostly moderate to high heritability estimates. Higher heritability estimates were obtained for body weight traits. Therefore, selection for body weight traits before mature age will result in gain in egg weight traits and it will be useful for breeding plans. The average inbreeding coefficients for all birds were and ranged from zero to 0.15. In this population, 34.5% of birds were inbred, with a mean inbreeding coefficient of 0.28. Inbreeding as variable has no significant effect on EGGW1; however, age of sex maturity as variable has significant effect (p<0.001) on EGGW1. Inbreeding Effect on Genetic Parameters of Economic Traits in Moghani Sheep Breed
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of inbreeding on the estimation of genetic parameters of weight traits at different ages in Moghani sheep. In the present study, the information of 11721 Moghani sheep in Jafarabad Moghan breeding station from 1987 to 2011 was used. Genetic parameters were estimated using single trait model with covariate and classification and without inbree...

The main aim of this research was to estimate the genetic and phenotypic parameters for productive and reproductive traits of Esfahan native chickens. Traits included body weights at hatch (BW1), 8 weeks of age (BW8), 12 weeks of age (BW12), and at sexual maturity (WSM)], age at sex maturity (ASM), egg number (EN), average egg weight (AEW) in the first 12 weeks of production, and egg production...

This study was conducted to estimate the genetic parameters influencing egg quality in Khorasan Razavi native fowl. (Co)Variance components were estimated by the Bayesian statistical method via Gibbs sampling in GIBBS3F90 software. 1000 eggs (28-29 weeks old) were collected from 775 hens of the ninth generation of Khorasan-Razavi Province native fowl breeding center. The aim of this study is study the inheritance of economic traits in an Iranian Native chickens population by estimating genetic parameters (heritability, genetic, phenotypic and environment correlations) under short-term selection in breeding programs. Identification of genes determining the expression of economically important traits of plants and animals is a main research focus in agricultu...
متن کاملHeritability estimation for growth-related traits in juvenile wild common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) in the south of Caspian Sea
Wild common carp of the Caspian Sea is one of the important fish in the north of Iran, which has been introduced to inland aquaculture. Its genetic characteristics are investigated to set up for breeding programs that are still unknown. Using wild common carp in aquaculture is limited for uncontrolled variation in performance of fish derived from undomesticated breeders. A 7×7 factorial matin...
